Revolutionizing Equine-Assisted Therapy with TG0 Technology

At TG0, we are proud to be at the forefront of innovation, applying our touch-sensing technology to a groundbreaking initiative that seeks to address critical mental health and social issues. In collaboration with Bournemouth University's Multimodal Immersive Neuro-sensing (MINE) cluster, TheHorseCourse, mammal.tech, and other key partners, our etee Controllers are playing a pivotal role in transforming the way equine-assisted services (EAS) are delivered.

Bridging the Gap Between Tradition and Technology

Equine-assisted services have long been recognized for their profound impact on mental health and wellbeing, particularly for individuals and families affected by domestic violence. The unique bond between humans and horses, characterized by mutual trust, respect, and non-verbal communication, has shown significant potential in helping to rebuild lives and foster resilience. However, the accessibility of these services has been limited by the high costs and maintenance associated with horse care.

Enter TG0’s etee Controllers. Our advanced touch-sensing technology is now being utilized to bring the benefits of EAS into the virtual realm, making this life-changing therapy accessible to a wider audience. Using the etee trackers and controllers for full body tracking to gather data and then integrating our controllers into a virtual reality (VR) platform, we are helping to create a simulated environment that mirrors the therapeutic interactions between humans and horses.

The Role of eteeControllers in Virtual Equine Therapy

Central to this initiative is the use of etee Controllers to provide real-time, haptic feedback in the VR environment. These controllers are designed to capture the subtleties of human touch and movement, enabling users to interact with a virtual horse as if it were real. This interaction is not just about mimicry; it's about recreating the therapeutic essence of the human-horse bond.

In the virtual setting, users can engage in activities that would typically be part of a physical EAS session, such as grooming, leading, or simply being in the presence of a horse. The etee Controllers allow for precise and responsive interactions, where users can receive immediate feedback on their actions, mirroring the natural responses of a real horse. This feedback is crucial in helping users learn about calm communication, emotional regulation, and the importance of mutual respect—core components of the therapeutic process.

Expanding Access to Mental Health Support

The integration of our etee Controllers into this VR-based therapy is a significant step forward in making equine-assisted services more accessible. For those who may not have the resources or ability to participate in traditional EAS, the virtual alternative offers a scalable and effective solution. This is particularly important for vulnerable populations, such as victims of domestic abuse, who stand to benefit greatly from the mental health support that EAS provides.

Moreover, the use of VR technology in combination with our etee Controllers offers new avenues for research into human-animal interactions and their therapeutic potential. By capturing and analyzing data from these virtual sessions, researchers can gain deeper insights into the mechanisms that drive the positive outcomes of EAS, potentially leading to further advancements in the field.

A Commitment to Innovation and Wellbeing

At TG0, we are committed to leveraging our technology to make a positive impact on society. The application of our eteeControllers in this virtual equine therapy initiative is just one example of how we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible with touch-sensing technology. We are excited to see how this collaboration will continue to evolve and how it will contribute to improving mental health and wellbeing for many.
